Converter Based Wind Power Generation for DC Microgrid Application

Renewable energy sources have turn out to be a well-accepted energy sources not because of its non-polluting nature but also its for its accessibility. Wind energy may be an excellent alternative for present conventional sources in recent years as its minimum environmental impacts compare to others conventional sources. In dc micro grid application wind turbine which is based on doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is preferred due to various advantages. Performance of DFIG can be more efficient by cascaded boost converter employed rotor circuit. The maximum power point tracking technique is applied to pull out utmost power from wind generator to compensate load through boost converter with high gain and a duty ratio of nearly 50%. Here employment of boost converter with high gain for doubly fed wind generator using MPPT mechanism is proposed. MATLAB/SIMULINK is chosen as a tool here for simulation study.
