A Simple Design and Realization Technique of a Broadband Low-Noise Amplifier for Wireless Frequency Range

In this paper, a wideband Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) incorporating negative feedback for achieving gain flatness over a wireless frequency range of 1–4 GHz has been proposed. The design combines transformer along with LC network for impedance matching at the ports for enhancing the overall performance of the LNA. The enhancement in gain without much effect on Noise Figure (NF) has been achieved using a two-stage LNA. A prototype of the proposed design has been developed using HBT as the transistor. The developed prototype on Rogers 4003 substrate provides a gain of approximately 25 dB and NF of 2.5 dB over the whole frequency range.
