PIDF Control of the Bidirectional Non-Isolated MIC for Hybrid Energy Storage System of the Electric Vehicles

A PIDF controller is designed for the control of a bidirectional non-isolated multi-input DC-DC converter as suggested by Akar et al. for the hybrid energy storage systems of the electric vehicle. The H-ESS discharge is mediated by a three switch control and the charge by a single switch, and the waveforms were analyzed with battery source and a fuel cell. Small signal averaging was performed to develop the state model of the MIC and the transfer function for control of battery current and output voltage were derived. For a setting time of ~10msec and an overshoot of less than 5%, we have found that the PIDF controller performs better in comparison to the PI counterpart.
