Influence of Excitation Current on Characteristics in a Claw Pole Type Half-Wave Rectified Variable Field Flux Motor with Iron Powder Core

We have proposed a claw pole type half-wave rectified variable field flux motor (CP-HVFM) with the rotor field winding short-circuited by a diode. And the rotor field flux can be excited and be changed from a zero to its maximum by the stator excitation current. In the previous paper, we designed CP-HVFM with iron powder core. This paper reports the evaluation of the electromagnetic field analysis and the experimental results about the influence that the excitation current gives in torque and efficiency characteristics.
