Fault-Tolerant Control of Hybrid Excitation Axial Field Flux-Switching Permanent Magnet Motor

A novel 6/13-pole hybrid excitation axial field flux-switching permanent magnet machine (HEAFFSPMM) has the advantage of strong fault-tolerance ability, high efficiency and large torque density. In the paper, the fault tolerances of 6/13 HEAFFSPM machine and the conventional 12/10 AFFSPM machine are compared and analyzed under the condition of short-circuit fault. It is found that 6/13 HEAFFSPMM can effectively restrain the turn-to-turn short-circuit current and the other normal phase currents in contrast with 12/10 AFFSPMM under the fault-tolerant control of SVPWM based on the principle of the constant magnetomotive force (CMMF). In order to improve the fault-tolerant performance, the minimum copper loss fault-tolerant control method is proposed in this paper, and the related experiments are done to validate the control method.
