Localization of Mobile Sensor Nodes Using QR Codes and Dead Reckoning with Error Correction

Mobile sensor nodes (MSNs) are widely used in industrial applications to perform sensing in area where the deployment of static sensor nodes are not feasible. MSN uses localization technique to continuously track the location of MSNs, so that the desired sensing area can be fully covered. This paper presents an automated position recalibration technique to eliminate drift error from MSN's dead reckoning. The proposed recalibration process uses QR code and image processing technique to reposition the MSN accurately from time to time. In addition to that, the proposed localization system comes with command dispatch, MSNs' positions and trajectories visualization capabilities via cloud computing. The proposed solution is suitable for environmental monitoring in indoor environment such as industrial warehouse, factory and office.
