The Effect of Terrain Model Discreteness on the Errors of Land Clutter Simulation

The article discusses the errors of echo signal models arising from a discrete representation of the reflective properties of the earth surface. The dependence of the modeling error on the sampling interval is obtained for the covers, the reflectivity of which is a piecewise function. The common dependence is concretized for the reflectivity defined by a piecewise linear function. Special attention is given to the determination the maximum error for the case in which an antennas cans a transition from one land cover to another.
