Rotor Magnetic Systems of the Permanent-Magnet Starter-Generator for Vehicles with a Hybrid Power Plant

This paper presents an analysis of the rotor magnetic system designs of the permanent-magnet starter-generator for vehicles with a hybrid power plant taking into account the fault-tolerance requirements at the maximum power-to mass ratio, maximum efficiency, and minimum cost. The rotor mechanical strength was calculated for designs. Mass-and-size parameters were estimated, and operational characteristics were presented. The optimal design was selection based on the key advantage analysis of each design considered. The research results can be used in the design of the starter-generator for vehicles with a hybrid power plant.
