3-D Modelling of Marine Electromagnetic Technologies Taking into Account Induced Polarization

The paper presents the mathematical models for calculating 3-D electromagnetic fields and 3-D induced polarization fields in marine electromagnetic technologies using arbitrary-oriented galvanic electrical lines. The mathematical modeling is performed for the perspective but poorly studied technology of marine electrical prospecting in which the vertical source and receiver are used. The numerical results, which demonstrate how the distortion in the source and receiver verticality influences the electromagnetic signal measured by this technology, are presented. Additionally, the induced polarization effect on the measured signal is analyzed. The approach to designing a field experiment for this technology is proposed.
