Hybrid Filter for Distorted Voltage Source in Microgrids

The use of power electronic was rapidly growing in both commercial and domestic applications. Due to this power electronic devices harmonics were injected into the power system. Hence harmonic filter is necessary to filter out harmonics in the power system. Micro grid is an important alternate in the distribution network. I this paper shunt active and shunt passive filter is implemented for compensating harmonics in micro grids. The performance of this hybrid filter was checked using MATLAB/SIMULINK where the source voltage is producing harmonics. Thus by using hybrid filter an effective harmonic compensation and reactive power compensation was achieved.
