Storage Optimization: Benefits Brought by Storage Itself, with an Energy Price Minimization

The advancements in technology and services are fundamentally transforming the traditional electrical power system operation. It is undergoing a full changeover into a collection of microgrids, which contains consumers that become prosumers. Energy storage systems are developing in an alert manner, explained by their contribution in ensuring consumer's electricity supply, their reliability and their intervention in case of operational disturbances. Efficient energy storage becomes one of the most spectacular and sensitive areas of activity and initiative, the development of conversion and storage procedures, equipment's and technologies being an exclusive condition for the competitive use of all renewable energy sources. This paper is addressing the issue of simulation studies for the safe deployment of cutting - edge electrical storage technologies within electrical distribution. Based on energy storage system, a method of determining minimal system configuration is designed to achieve the sizing optimization and point out the correlations between the system efficiency and cost. The study case concentrates on the technology selection, optimal design and price minimization using energy storage system in the University Politehnica of Bucharest campus in Etap programme.
