SWSVIP-Smart Walking Stick for the Visually Impaired People using Low Latency Communication

One of the main challenges for the visually impaired people is that they need support from other people, traditional white canes or dogs while they are walking along the road, footpath, bedrooms, kitchen and much more. So in this paper, we purpose the SWSVIP-Smart Walking Stick for the Visually Impaired People using Low Latency Communication. Various new features of our implementation are as follows. First, we achieved the low latency communication for transferring the data by proposing new algorithms. Second, we can detect the obstacle within the range of 5 meters using the ultrasonic sensors. Using their enhanced capabilities to use other senses, we provide different alerts for the obstacles within the different range which would help them draw a picture of their surrounding area within their mind. Third, the power saving capability of the designed stick is high which in turn acts as a cost-effective solution and reduces the burden to change batteries and charge them very occasionally. Moreover, the implantation of GPS in the stick gives the real-time monitoring of the impaired person, using a mobile application software connected to it, by their emergency contact. The experimental results are obtained by real time monitoring of the visually impaired people in the blind school.
