Influence of the Surface Location Relative to the Axis of the Arc Gas Discharge Source of Low Pressure on the Properties of the Modified Layer

The paper investigates the influence of the location of samples relative to the axis of a low-pressure arc discharge source on the properties of a modified layer. Distribution curves are obtained for microhardness in the depth of the nitrided layer. It has been proved that the depth of the modified layer after nitriding at 600 °C reaches 27 μm. The results of measuring the roughness after nitriding in non-self-sustained high-current arc discharge are given. It has been proved that nitriding in non-self-sustained high-current arc discharge fails in the treatment of specimen with a complex geometrical shape.
