Use of Renewable energy in performance enhancement of Indian Traction Power Supply System

Locomotives used at Indian electric traction system are based on DC motor drives which have supply of 25KV. Electric traction system mostly concern very high power and high voltage, and just because of that, power quality is the main issue or main concern. Steadily increasing demand of electricity is the main reason for the use of combined or hybrid networks. Slender accessibility of non-renewable source and contamination due to conventional source lead to use of renewable energy source as their substitute. In this paper wind energy used as a renewable energy source which is meshed with the grid and grid network sent power to locomotives of traction line connected by their substation. The behavior of Traction power supply system has been analyzed using simulation to check the performance parameter of both systems.
