Best Practice Application of Medium Voltage High Resistance Grounding at LNG Plant

High Resistance Grounding (HRG) is considerably Utilized in Oil & Gas Industry since its capability to limit ground fault with the result that Plant continuously running with no interruption. In addition, the reliability and availability of Plant is high as no downtime due to short circuit phase to ground. This paper addressed the application of HRG at Badak LNG Plant which one of LNG Producer in Indonesia which is situated at Bontang, East Kalimantan with capacity of production 14.6 MPTA of LNG from 5 Trains. The plant has been utilizing HRG for low and medium voltage level which is 480 V and 4160 V, respectively. This paper will focus on application of HRG on Medium voltage, best practice of design, cable insulation requirement and maintenance of HRG.
