Construction of a Novel Endoscopic Cerenkov Luminescence Imaging System for Image-Guided Resection of Hepatocellular Carcinoma on Mice Models

Cerenkov luminescence imaging (CLI) proved as a promising approach for molecular imaging of cancer. However, most of the conventional optical detection devices fail to acquire CL images since the Cerenkov luminescence intensity is extraordinarily weak. Recently, endoscopic CLI (ECLI) was proposed as a highly attractive approach for tumor detection and surgery. In this study, an ECLI system was constructed with a novel cooling solution, which can effectively reduce the system thermal noise and dramatically improve the imaging sensitivity. The developed ECLI system was further explored for imageguided surgery of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) on mice models.
