Feasibility Analysis of Near-Field Measurement Probe Based on the Quantum Coherence Effect of Rydberg Atom

In this paper, the feasibility of antenna near-field scanning measurement using the Rydberg Atomic Probe, based on the quantum coherence effect of Rydberg atoms, was analyzed. The article first explains the basic principle of electric field strength measurement using the Rydberg atom, and summarizes the advantages and problems existed of this probe. Then, it illustrates the great appeal of this kind of probe (which was previously only used for measuring electric field strength) for near-field scanning measurement of antennas, and naturally an idea of applying this kind of probe to antenna near-field scanning measurement is proposed. On this basis, the differences between the antenna near-field scanning measurement and the pure electric field strength measurement are explained. What's more, the existing problems of near-field measurement using this kind of probe are summarized, and a series of solutions to the problems are proposed. Finally, the revolutionary changes that the probe will bring to the antenna near-field measurement system are forecasted, and the great potential application value is described.
