Dual-Band Microstrip Antenna with Orthogonal Polarization for Wireless Communications

This articledescribes single-layer orthogonal-feed dual-band microstrip antenna for wireless services. By positioningorthogonal-feed on a simple rectangular patch, dual frequency operation for Bluetooth and WiMAX, wireless services can be obtained. The two modes TM₀₁ and TM₁₀ are generated having similar polarization and radiation patterns. By controlling the position of orthogonal-feed, desired dual-band operation can be obtained. The suggested antenna gives a gain of 2.2 dBi and 4.5 dBi at two distinct frequencies respectively. The suggested antenna analyzed using an Electromagnetic tool Ansoft's HFSS followed by experimentalverifications.
