Energy Efficient Co-Ordinated Multi-Point Joint Transmission(CoMP-JT) for LTE-A

The Future mobile communication systems are challenged to guarantee high-quality and high-data-rate services to an increasing number of users, with limited resource availability. One of the main enhancements introduced to boost capacity and coverage is the increase of cell density by resorting to an efficient deployment of heterogeneous networks (HetNets). Coordinated Multi Point Transmission (CoMP) is a co-operative technique in which certain cells (BS) co-ordinate with each other for providing transmission service to the UE in the designated area. So, CoMP can enhance system capacity and spectral efficiency of cell edge users. In this paper, CoMP-JT (Joint Transmission) is implemented with location optimization algorithm and number optimization algorithm. The CoMP-JT enhance the spectral efficiency of cell edge users by reducing inter cell interference. The location optimization algorithm helps to keep the BS (Base station) to its optimum position. And the number optimization algorithm helps to reduce the number of BS while maintaining the Quality of Service (QoS). Using these algorithms power optimization can be achieved. Simulation result shows that the proposed algorithms can effectively reduce the total power consumption and number of BS without losing QoS.
