High-Power Capacitor-Switch Assemblies Rated at 100 ns

The paper presents a new design of capacitor-switch assemblies with high absolute and specific output power. Unlike the previous models developed at IHCE SB RAS, the new design comprises not one but two heteropolar cylindrical hollow capacitors connected via high-voltage leads to a common three-electrode switch operating on the principle of field distortion. The design provides compact arrangement of capacitors and switches and a low (62 nH) total inductance of the discharge circuit. The parameters of such capacitor-switch assembles show their potential for successful use in compact LTD stages and pulsed power accelerators.
