Characteristics of the Distribution of Textures in the Reconstruction of Damaged Buildings in the Kumamoto Earthquake

On the 2016, two large earthquakes occurred continuously on April 14 and April 16 in Kumamoto prefecture, Japan. Satellite remote sensing with periodic observation characteristics is one of effective observation methods for survey of disaster situation and continuous monitoring of land cover. In this study, the purpose was to evaluate the restoration situation of the damaged building by the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake. Using the high-resolution satellite data of Worldview-3 observed after the disaster and one year after the disaster, the texture index by Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix was calculated and the distribution situation was evaluated. As a result, it was recognized that the value of dissimilarity differs depending on the damage of the building after the disaster and one year after the disaster and the recovery situation. In addition, we examined the extractability of the removed building by normalizing the dissimilarity after the disaster and one year after the disaster.
