Pulse Front Tilt Derived from a Digital Micromirror Device and its THz Application

We report a new method for temporally and spatially manipulating the pulse front tilt (PFT) intensity profile of an ultrashort optical pulse using a commercial microelectromechanical system (MEMS), also known as a digital micromirror device (DMD). For our demonstration, we show terahertz (THz) generation in a lithium niobate crystal pumped with a Ti:Sapphire oscillator laser using the PFT pumping scheme derived from a DMD chip.
