Analysis and Improvement of a Variable Flux Hybrid-Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine

A variable flux hybrid-permanent-magnet synchronous machine (VFHPMSM) is propose in this paper, which is equipped with aluminum-nickel-cobalt (AlNiCo) PMs and neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) PMs. A prototype of VFHPMSM is built, and the experimental results are in good correlation with the FEA simulation. The simulation and experimental results show that VFHPMSM has a good flux adjusting ability and efficiency.
