Experimental Confirmation of Thrust and Attractive Force Control of Linear Induction Motor by Two Different Frequency Components

This paper presents a new Maglev control system whereby the thrust and attractive force are controlled simultaneously and independently of the linear induction motor (LIM). It is proposed that two different frequency components be used to achieve the simultaneous and independent control of the thrust and attractive force of the LIM. One of the frequency components drives the LIM with a slip (f_d) and generates a thrust and attractive force. The other frequency component synchronizes the motor speed (f_m) and generates only attractive force. Therefore, this proposed control method simplifies the controller. The controller for thrust and attractive force can be designed separately and independently. In previous research, each controller has PI control and we verify the control performance. Especially the control of attractive force is not sufficient because the gap between the secondary and primary side is constant. In this paper we propose the control coefficient is tuned according to the gap. The mutual relation between the current, gap and the attractive force was confirmed by experiments.
