A High Power LED Supply Based on GaN Synchronous Boost Converter

In this paper we present the design of digitally controlled 150 W synchronous boost converter with application as high power LED driver. Usage of GaN FETs provides higher efficiency compared with traditional solutions incorporating MOSFET transistors. Design claims 12 V input voltage and output up to 35 V. Due to relatively high frequency (310 kHz), it achieves good performance at small dimensions. Digital regulator built with STM32F334 microcontroller allows easy control of output power by voltage or current stabilization. The converter can be controlled by digital encoder or serial interface.
