Design, FEA and Dynamic Simulation of a New Unconventional9-Phase PMSM with Asymmetric Winding

In this paper, finite element analysis and dynamic simulations are performed for an unconventional asymmetric winding nine phase permanent magnet synchronous motor. Motor parameters such as back electromotive force voltages, cogging torque and output torque values are obtained by finite element analysis and compared with experimental results in terms of back electromotive force and output torque signals. A brief mathematical expressions are also presented for the 9-phase permanent magnet motor and simulation study is implemented based on these equations. A comparison between the simulations, finite element analysis and test results is also presented for such an unconventional PM motor in the paper.
