Improving Autonomous Operation of Profiling Floats

The article analyses the factors influencing the autonomy of ocean profiling floats. A design of a buoyancy control device that utilizes a hydraulic cylinder has been suggested to increase the efficiency of an electrohydraulic system at great depths. Equations of motion of the profiling float have been developed, allowing for the application of the equations to only one of the processes of ascending/diving for calculation, provided all other coefficients in the equations are equal, and use their results for the other process. Based on the received model, the power-saving ascending/diving mode of the float has been evaluated.
