CENAM's Primary Standard for High Frequency Power Up to 50 GHz

This paper describes a 2.4 mm coaxial microcalorimeter and its associated thermoelectric-type transfer standard/sensor, which together will realize a primary standard for microwave and millimeter wave power from 18 GHz to 50 GHz at Centro Nacional de Metrologia (CENAM), Queretaro, Mexico. It summarizes the calorimeter and transfer standard design characteristics and the principle of calorimeter calibration. First results for the calorimeter and transfer standard/sensor performance are given. The developed data acquisition system to automate the effective efficiency measurements is also presented.
