Calibration of Electricity Meters with Digital Input

Over recent decades, proliferation of harmonic producing loads in the electric power system is noticeable, due to, in large part, increase in use of many power electronics devices. The role of power electronics in Smart Grid developments is very important. Smart Grid is characterized by the use of intelligent electronic devices in digital substations, for monitoring, control, protection and metering, based on voltage and current sampled values (SVs) conforming to lEC 61850-9-2 format. The SVs are used for revenue metering by non-conventional energy meters with digital inputs. The paper discusses the performance of these electricity meters under non-sinusoidal waveform conditions.
