Optimal Management of a Microgrid to Guarantee users’ Thermal Comfort

Human beings ordinarily develop their regular activities in buildings, and thus, the guarantee of suitable comfort conditions inside them is a critical issue that should be ade-quately addressed. It is possible to find in literature different methodologies that efficiently provide optimal comfort conditions. Nevertheless, all of them have a common point of departure since, to satisfy specific thermal requirements, it is needed to consume a certain amount of energy and thus, optimal energy management can be considered as important as users' well-being. Hence, the use of microgrids can decrease energy cost mainly due to their ability to integrate several energy sources and storage devices. This paper presents simulation results obtained by the implementation of a State-Space Model Predictive Controller for a hydrogen-based microgrid to provide the energy demanded by an office-building in order to satisfy users' thermal comfort requirements.
