Evaluation of Storage Capacity of Electric Vehicles for Vehicle to Grid Considering Driver's Perspective

Vehicle to Grid is a technology to utilize Electric Vehicles' battery pack not only for running but also for providing power and energy services to the power grid. Since excessive electricity supply places a heavy load on the electric system, Vehicle to Grid is suggested as a solution for peak shaving. In this research, based on the actual electric vehicle running data, electricity discharge/charge capacity which could be expected for V 2G was evaluated. Through this process, in order not to prevent driving, retention recommended state of charge is calculated. Analysis of driving pattern and reflecting retention recommended state of charge to a capacity evaluation model is a key differentiating point from previous researches. As a result, we found out that charging capacity is limited in daytime, which indicates that designing an effective incentive plans to motivate EV drivers to charge in daytime is needed.
