GSWA: A Survivable Dynamic Multicast Efficient RWA Scheme in WDM Mesh Networks

In WDM technology, link failures have serious effects on multicast sessions compared to unicast sessions. As a request is being carried to different destinations, it is more critical to maintain survivability of such communication sessions. Various methods have been discovered so far but most of them work with huge restoration times. In this paper, one efficient Routing and Wavelength Assignment scheme (GSWA) has been proposed to protect dynamic multicast sessions in case of single link failure. The algorithm GSWA introduces a new gStream based approach for the protection of such sessions and compared with the corresponding Shared Path protection based Wavelength Assignment (SPWA) scheme. The efficiency of the algorithms has been validated rigorously with extensive simulation results. The simulation results show that GSWA performs much better than SPWA in terms of gain in network resources and blocking probability.
