Ratio Tracking Control of Slider Crank Based Electromechanical CVT System

CVT system provides an infinite number of transmission ratios for matching the internal combustion engine output synchronously. In order to overcome drawbacks in the existing CVT systems, a new electromechanical CVT is developed. This belt-driven CVT consists of two electric actuators to vary its variable pulleys via slider crank mechanism. SCEM-CVT system is controlled by a ratio controller which consists of two sets of PID controller to regulate actuators in varying the radius position of sectional pulleys and also its ratio shift logic. The proposed system has been evaluated through simulation and experimental works within Matlab-Simulink environment through NI PCI-6229 DAQ board. The results show that CVT ratio controller can provide adequately the required actuation to SCEM-CVT system.
