An Adaptive Anti-Collision Protocol Based on Collision Tree for RFID Systems of IoT

A massive number of physical objects can achieve connection with electronic tags via unique IDs in Internet-of-things (IoT) systems. Then the objects are able to be identified and linked into the internet through RFID applications. For accurate and fast identification of the tags, tag collision becomes a significant issue for the RFID system designing under large-scale tags in IoT. In this paper, we propose a novel efficient anti-collision protocol, based on the 8-ary and 2-ary collision tree, to further improve the performance of the RFID system. The proposed algorithm utilizes the number of collided tags to adaptively choose the search pattern. In addition, through applying the prefix predication method, the idle circles can be eliminated. The simulation results illustrate that the proposed protocol is more efficient than the previous algorithms in terms of time complexity and system efficiency, especially under dense tag population.
