Digitizing Academic Delivery in Higher Education Issues and Challenges

During this Information age we witness an ever increasing use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education space. The present paper describes how a University attempted to digitize its teaching and learning processes. It improvised and strengthened its already available IT infrastructure in order to support e-learning. Dedicated teams were formed and trained to develop small learning modules in house for certain subjects. These modules were then made available to a few batches of undergraduate and post graduate students pursuing engineering and management courses. These online modules were delivered in addition to the face-to-face lectures by the faculty members teaching those seven subjects. This exercise was run for two semesters and continuous feedback was taken from the students and the instructors. This paper documents the important learnings from this experiment along with the challenges faced and critical success factors identified in the process.
