Dipole Source Localization Based on Least Square Method and 3D Printing

For the exploration of new underwater sensing technique, a method of dipole source localization is proposed based on least square method and 3D printing. A pressure sensor array using 3D printing is developed; the pressure field of dipole source is modelled and the experiment data in static water are collected to work out the position of dipole source through least square method. The change rule of localization error is discussed in the direction parallel with the sensor array and perpendicular with it, respectively. The experiment results show that the average error of the absolute values of localization errors is 8.8 mm, 5.54 % relative to the length of sensor array and the least error is 0.lmm in the direction parallel with the sensor array. In the other direction, the average error of the absolute values of localization errors is 11.5 mm, 7.2% relative to the length of sensor array and the least error is 0.5mm. Dipole source localization is available with pressure sensor array.
