Optimizing Wind Turbine-Generator Design Using Genetic Algorithm

A majority of the offshore-Wind Turbine (WT) designing has based upon the direct-drive-PMG (permanent magnet generators), due to a direct-drive mechanism are able to provide more reliability, which will reduces the cost of maintenance through the gearbox omission from the ‘drive train’. Additionally, the significant generator design needed to maintain essential performance characteristics, which includes lower mass, lower cost, high power output, maximal torque density, high power-factor and high efficiency. In this paper, an open source “3D-FEM” tool will be used for the electrical machine computation. An enhanced designing of WT- Generator can be achieve thru provided constrains, multiple- objectives and a wide set of ‘Input pare’ and to accomplish this activity a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm such as Genetic Algorithm (GA) is consider due to its well nature for solving optimized problem, also a complex system designing. The result analysis of GA at different scenarios will help to select the better-designing parameters of WT-Generator.
