An Approach to the Electrification of a Plug-in Hybrid Chevrolet Camaro

This paper discusses the methods used to modify a Chevrolet Camaro into a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The manuscript covers the system requirements used to redesign the Camaro to compete in the EcoCAR 3 competition. Details on the modification of the vehicle's electrical systems are discussed with an emphasis on the systems engineering process used to manage the project and validate the effectiveness of the subsystems. Circuit design and integration are discussed regarding quality of work, validation, and results. Additional details on the optimization process of the system over the course of its lifecycle are given.
