Modeling and Design of Synchronous Buck Converter for Solar-Powered Refrigerator

In this paper design of synchronous buck converter for power photovoltaic energy system is presented. For analyzing the efficiency of such converter, we calculate and compare it with that of conventional buck converter. The synchronous buck converter thus designed is used for solar-powered refrigerator for use in homes and facilities that had only limited solar-lighting capabilities or for solar-powered vaccine refrigerators. Moreover, the feedback loop control of synchronous buck converter is performed in order to meet the dynamic energy requirement of load mostly during variation of source i.e. variation of solar irradiation and temperature. Open loop control-to-output transfer function is obtained from measured step response. The closed loop transfer functions and PI controller are synthesized to accomplish the desired loop gain. The studied model of complete system is simulated in the MATLAB/Simulink environment and the results are obtained with proximity to the theoretical study.
