Cfd Simulations of Shell Side Flow in Multitubular Heat Exchanger with Parallel-Current and Counter-Current Configuration

Through the modeling of a multitubular heat exchanger of naval industrial installations., we tried to compare the effect of the counter and parallel current configuration on the efficiency of the exchanger in terms of heat exchange coefficient. Model of adapted turbulence is that of k-ε., the numerical simulations are carried out under tube side mass flow ranging from 0.3 to 0.8 kg/s. The numerical results obtained correspond to the empirical results extracted from the data of other models and the experimental results provided by a heat exchanger of a real marine engine and asserts that the counter-current configuration is better than that of the current parallel in terms of point of view Heat exchange.
