Role of Cost effective nano-C/Al counter electrode for Dye Sensitized Solar Cell

Power generation through different techniques exist as one of the thrust area of research for several decades. Solar cell leads the list of renewable energy sources attracting the scientist owing to its tremendous potential. Dye Sensitized Solar cells (DSSC) are considered to be eco friendly form of the solar cell. Natural dyes are environmentally and economically good choice to fabricate the (DSSCs) rather than the synthetic dyes. Several plants extracts are used as dyes to act as the sensitizer in DSSC. In this work we have prepared mesoporous TiO
₂
anode and the Al/C as counter electrode. The assembled DSSCs taking pomegranate extract as a natural dyes shows maximum of open circuit voltage (VOC) and short circuit current (ISC) comes out to be ~0.89 V and ~5.46 μA respectively and the overall efficiency of the device is 0.89% among the other dyes. Compare to the existing literature value this gives a better trend for environmental friendly and low-cost DSSCs.
