Performance of Rooftop Solar PV System with Crystalline Solar Cells

This paper is investigating the simulated performance of 5 kWrooftop solar PV system with crystalline solar cells. During this study, 15 % efficient glass covered crystalline solar module with a temperature co-efficient of power as - 0.47 %/°C is chosen. The PV system is mounted at a tilt angle close to latitude is simulated using PV Watts tool from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Results shows the 5 kW PV system generates an annual energy of 7658 kWh with a capacity factor of 17.5 %. Energy cost value for the produced output is also estimated to be around Rs. 34457. This study helps to understand how crystalline solar cells performs under the weather conditions of Coimbatore location in India.
