Negative Image Matching Technique and Its Realization for Ultra-Wide Band Low Noise Amplifier

The Realization of impedance matching over complete ultra-wide band range is challenging task. This paper presents a systematic design strategy using novel technique for the design of low noise amplifier (LNA). This procedure implements negative image matching technique. This step results in negative valued re-active components. The second step performs impedance matching using positive valued components to achieve optimum performance. Thus, specific accentuation has been committed to improve the return loss performances over the complete frequency band. Also, this work gives adequate insights about how to change over negative value lumped elements using conjugate components and distributed elements. A specific example is presented using ATF 36163 pHEMT with hybrid microwave integrated circuit (HMIC) techniques. The optimized LN A design has a low noise figure, low return loss with better forward gain over 1-10GHz. A point by point design methodology with Micro strip line analysis and simulation results are illustrated.
