Practical Realization Rules for Wideband Impedance Matching using the Double-Terminated Filter Synthesis Method

The fundamentals of analytical wideband complex impedance matching techniques were first intruduced by R. M. Fano and H. W. Bode utilizing the Darlington-synthesis. The matching technique is based on the design of double-terminated filters. However, during the analytical design process major problems may arise, that may lead to unrealizable matching networks. Two practical design rules are presented, supporting the design of realizable impedance matching networks. The proposed design rules are validated by simulation results.
