A Semi-Real-Valued Capon Algorithm for 2-D DOA Estimation of Coherent Signals with L-Shape Array

T98 reduce the computational complexity of two-dimensional (2-D) direction of arrival (DOA) estimation of coherent signals, this paper proposes an semi-real-valued reduced-dimension Capon algorithm with L-shape array. First, the forward/backward spatial smoothing technique is adopted to de-correlate the coherency of sample covariance matrix. Then combining with the reduced-dimension Capon and least-square method, a semi-real-valued method is introduced to estimate the elevation and azimuth angles. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can not only have the similar estimation performance with traditional Capon, but also significantly reduce the computational complexity.
