Design of Decentralized Droop Control Structure of DC Microgrid with Constant Power Loads and Source Disturbances

DC microgrid with different sources and constant power load is studied in this paper. Considering the impact of source disturbances and load variation, a decentralized control is employed using dc bus signal (DBS) scheme. This control strategy enables autonomous control of distributed converters which enhances the system reliability and flexibility. In this case, mode adaptive droop and maximum power control structures are employed to limit the voltage and power fluctuations due to source disturbances. Moreover, the control approach empowers power sharing among the different sources and facilitates mode transitions. Three different modes of operations are employed based on to which source types governing power balances. Input filter with parallel passive damping also incorporated to mitigate the dc bus voltage oscillations and to regulate load voltage constant. Finally, performance of the dc microgrid control is verified using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
