Applying Static Mobility Model in Relaying Network Organization in Mini-UAVs Based FANET

Flying Ad-hoc Network (FANET) represents a subcategory of Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) formed by a swarm of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Mobility models generating the pathways of mini-UAVs in a flying session serve as the basis for creating a realistic simulation environment. The article deals with the static mobility model describing UAVs communication infrastructure in a relaying network. The research method used was simulation modeling based on NS-2 network simulator. The BonnMotion utility which creates, analyses and exports mobility scenarios into different network simulators was used to generate nodes movement for different mobility models. The network was developed according to the simulation model and its characteristics were specified using the AODV and OLSR routing protocols. Communication density, transmission range and connectivity characteristics in FANET were the aims of the current research.
