MEMS and Vision based Gesture Driven System for Patients

This paper suggests an idea of a system based on gesture detection which can be helpful for the patients. The pre-defined actions made by the patients can be translated through an embedded system which can be used to communicate with the medical staff. The proposed system is useful in improving the communication between the patient and the medical staff which reduces the burden on them. Gesture recognition can be achieved by eliminating unwanted background, non-gesture hand motions and by using proper illumination. Here we detect the hand by determining its canter, then we analyze the deviations in the finger's location, and finally recognize the gesture.
