Bio-Inspired Ant-Cuckoo Energy Efficient Data Aggregation Algorithm:A Solution For Routing Problem Of Wireless Sensor Networks [ACEED]

Wireless sensor network [WSN] is a spatial distributed wireless network of sensors. WSN has small power supply embedded in it. Hence, there is a need to sense the information in an energy efficient manner so as to prolong the operative period of sensors. In this context, there is a need to design energy efficient routing algorithms. This process can be effectively accomplished by applying bio-inspired techniques. In this paper an efficient routing algorithm named ant-cuckoo optimized energy-efficient data aggregation [ACEED] algorithm for WSN is proposed. Firstly, Ant colony optimization concept is applied for deciding the number of clusters in all iteration, as well for initial cluster formation. In the further iterations, to save energy, cluster formation and data aggregation at each cluster is carried out using bio inspired cuckoo search principle. Simulation is carried out using NS2 tool and the results clearly reveal that, the proposed hybrid ACEED routing protocol is better in terms of network lifetime, average throughput and average energy consumption when compared to performance of ant optimized energy-efficient data aggregation (AEED) alone.
