A Predictive Model for Analyzing Electric Consumption Patterns in Solar Photo Voltaic Micro Grid

In view of developing a green eco-system, renewable energy resources like Solar energy and wind energy are being used in electrifying areas where conventional power supply is not possible. A similar experimental design is set up using Solar Photovoltaic Micro Grid to electrify a reserved forest area called Mendil; a village situated in Belagavi, Karnataka State. The amount of electricity generated through Solar Photovoltaic Micro Grid and the electricity consumed by the villagers is collected through sensors, stored and analyzed. A prediction model based on available power consumption pattern is built to help in forecasting future electricity needs in the village. Real-time data related to power utilization of previous years are being studied to analyze and predict the consumption pattern for the forth coming year. The Prediction model is designed based on Time Series Algorithm which is more relevant in analyzing real-valued, continuous data. The predicted values are verified and compared against real data obtained from the micro grid. The experimental results indicate that the data obtained from the Prediction Model agrees with the next set of data related to electricity consumption.
